Our Story

Welcome to Invermere & Golden Home Hardware Building Centre.

The original Invermere hardware store was started in 1912. In 1953, Charlie Osterloh and Marvin Tunnacliffe bought the hardware store and, after moving it to 13th Street, it was renamed Invermere Hardware and Building Supplies.

When the partners retired in 1972, Charlie’s son-in-law, Peter McIsaac, took over management with Don Pawlyshyn. In 1981 the hardware’s buying group, Link Hardware, was bought by Home Hardware Stores.

In 1988, after 17 years working for Home Hardware Stores, Al Miller came to Invermere to manage the building supplies side of the business. In 1993, Al and his wife Lucy purchased the business. In 2004, Al and Lucy started construction of a new store at the Crossroads which is where it still stands today.

In 2018, Al and Lucy celebrated their 25th anniversary of ownership of Invermere Hardware and Building Supplies. That same year, they opened a second store in Golden BC.
